The 3rd Annual Mission Trip To Guatemala!

July 29 - August 6 2012

This eight-day mission project will be a life changing experience for everyone involved!  Our hosts, Manny and Cindy Batres began their mission organization due to the desire the had to help meet the needs of the Mayan people of Guatemala. 

The SUMC mission group has several projects planned including roof work on the local schools in the Chisec, Guatemala area, medical clinics for the general area and VBS for the children.  The group will share the gospel with hundreds of children and adults each day!

The Mission Team

Our team in 2011 was made up of 29 highschool and adult volunteers.  For many on the team, this was their second time to return to Chisec and see how the Lord was using the previous gifts.  The impact it had on both our Chisec friends as well as our own team members from Southside was nothing short of a miracle.  We are so blessed to be given this opportunity to return.  Our team is full for the year 2012 but you can partner with us in prayer and financial support.

So, how can I help?

  • Suitcase Sponsors!   ~ 25.00 ~  It costs us $25 to fly a suitcase over to Guatemala filled with VBS supplies.  Wold you consider sponsoring a suitcase? We even left the suitcases last year for the villagers!
  • Case of Spanish Bibles   ~ $50 ~ We were shocked last year how open the schools were to the gospel!  Teachers are teaching their students right from the Bible! What a contrast to America!  Would you sponsor  a case of New Testament Spanish bibles for $50 that we will deliver in our suit cases?
  • Help Sponsor a Team Member   ~ $100 ~ Each team member has to raise $1,000 to cover the supplies, plane ticket, travel, food and lodging.  That is only 10 people giving $100 to see that each team member can focus on their ministry plans and not financial burdens.
    • PRAY  ~ $priceless ~ We really need prayer partners for each team member.  We know that is is by the Lord along that this trip will be successful and protect our team so please consider partnering with us in prayer.  You can contact Daryl Walker for a team member to partner with.

     Your Financial and Prayer Support is Crucial to the Success of our Mission. 

    We need $6000 to purchase the building/roofing supplies in Guatemala. Each member of our team is working to raise $1000 each to cover food, housing and plane tickets to get to Guatemala.  In addition, we are collecting money for medical materials, and VBS supplies that include New Testament Bibles for each child and toothbrushes.  Most of all, we are praying that the Lord will bless our team and feel the Lord's presence as we serve.
     
    Please pray for our safety in travel, no holdup with passports, for direction with our medical team.
