All Saints Day - Nov 1st
All Saints Day All Saints, all Souls, all Hallows, all Holies…are the alternative observances for ancient holidays...redeemed by people of faith...from darkness into light...old festivals of fear transformed into celebrations of joy. This is the beautiful part...the scriptures tell us that those who live and believe in God are designated as his “saints”. Their lives are precious to God while they are on earth and precious to him when they pass into his eternal presence.
O you who love the Lord...He preserves the lives of his saints (Psalm 97:10a)
Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints. (Psalm 116:15)
In the United Methodist Church, All Saint's Day is observed on the first Sunday of November. It is a formal remembrance of all those who have passed away from the local church congregation in the past year. A candle is lit as each person's name is called, a memorial chime is sounded, and a liturgical prayer is offered for our heavenly reunion when Christ returns. We want to remember with joy the bond of love we share with:
