Warren W. Willis Camp at Leesburg, FLDear Parents, Spring Break is almost here and Summer will be just around the corner! We are busy planning for our annual visit to the Warren W. Willis camp in Leesburg, Fl for all rising 4th through rising 12th Grade students. This is an incredible fellowship and faith-building experience that we are certain all students are eager to experience. This year we will attend Monday, July 20th through Saturday, July 25th. We hope you already have these dates reserved on your calendar and have already registered or plan to do so as soon as possible! We have a terrific group of active youth, a large number of involved 5th graders as well as many 4th graders that are now eligible to attend. Hopes are high to take a record number of students to camp from SUMC this year! We encourage you to go online to www.warrenwilliscamp.org and sign up now. We are unable to hold a block of spots for our group and every year there are students who are unable to attend because all of the camper spots fill up. Registration is now open and spots are filling quickly. Please be sure to review the roommate request policy, communicate with the parents of your child's requested roommate and adhere to this process carefully as roommate requests are determined by the Camp. The Camp will only consider roommate requests if you name only one roommate; and the person you name has also named you on their registration form. You must name your roommate at the time you register. The cost for camp is $365 and scholarships are available to all who have a need. This year our scholarship process is changing. We ask you to go ahead and register online and pay the deposit of $75. (If you need a full scholarship, including the $75 deposit, please contact Angie Cosper as soon as possible at a.cosper@southsidemethodist.org.) Since scholarships are available both through the camp and through our church, we are asking parents to first apply for camp scholarships directly with the Camp. The Camp scholarship form is available through the camp website. Please fill out the parent and student portions of this form and deliver to the church office (Attn: Angie Cosper.) We will complete the required church portion and have it available for you to pick up at the church within 2 business days. You do not need to fill out the personal income portion until it is returned to you but do so before you send it to the camp. You will be responsible for sending this form into the Camp by the April 1st deadline. You will need to first apply for a Camp scholarship to be eligible for a Church scholarship. The Camp will award scholarships by April 15th and we anticipate the church scholarship fund being sufficient to fund any camp fees not covered by the camp scholarship process. Please do not hesitate to contact Angie Cosper should you have any questions. In addition to the camp fees, there will be a charge for a portion of the bus transportation, travel meals and the camp fun card. These additional costs typically range between $40 and $75 depending on the number of students sharing the bus transportation costs. Scholarships will be available for these costs as well. If you need any further information about the camp or our plans, please do not hesitate to contact either of us at any time. This experience is a blessing for us all and we are looking forward to another meaningful and memorable year. Blessings, Angie Cosper, Director of Children's Ministries Amy Franks, Director of Youth Ministries |
